Ruling on PTA Scandal

As I blogged about last week, a mother on the PTA board at Saint Francis De Chantel was caught taking funds from the fundraiser and various school sponsored events. She used the funds for her personal use and when she was caught serious matters were taken. As a result she was asked to resign her seat on the PTA board and her daughter was asked to leave the school.

At the community meeting this issue on whether the child should be suspended from the school because of her mother's actions. A majority of the members of the community board and residents felt that it was unjust and unfair for the child to be suspended from the school. They passed around a paper during the meeting asking the residents to vote on whether the child should asked to leave the school. It was voted that child should stay and the community board then announced that they would speak with the school administration.

The mother and daughter attended the meeting to hear the decision of the board. Although the residents were in favor of them, they were not greeted kindly at the door. I caught a glimpse of one woman who gave them a dirty look and whispered to her husband next to her while starring the mother and daughter down.

I voted that the child be left in the school because although her mother did steal an enormous amount of money from the school, it is not her child's fault.
